Hi there,
Just wanted to let you know that we were at the gig on Friday 25th April, and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. It was great to see the two local bands. Both Maive and Laying Jade were entertaining and very talented well done boys, and Dirty Revolution really had the crowds up and dancing. Well done to the Dead Elephant club and their organisers, we are looking forward to future gigs thanks - Carol, Llanon

Caped Cruiser here again ...

Keeping in constant touch with Cambria Arts activities from deepest Brittany, especially the music programme, and I just had to get in touch to say, the list of upcoming gigs is absolutely outstanding - as strong a line-up as I can remember. I'm just filled with envy: there is a live music scene here, but it involves a lot of travelling, and tends to be monopolized by Afro-Celtic cross-over bands, with a smattering of ex-pat 'jam sessions' in bars ... too many egos, not enough quality. I just hope everybody realizes just what a heaven-sent privilege the Live at the Talbot gigs are: there's nothing remotely equivalent over here.
My particular personal tastes are especially for the US songwriter performers, and in MALCOLM HOLCOMBE and SAM BAKER you've achieved a major coup: these two are without doubt the pick of the current crop in their field, as a quick visit to their websites will confirm - Malcolm's a unique, passionate, improbable, articulate and unforgettable writer & performer, and I'd hoped my next UK trip would coincide with his May 9 gig, but sadly I don't think it'll work out; but wild horses won't prevent me from making the pilgimage to catch Sam Baker later this year: after years of recovery and reconstructive surgery following his near-slaughter at the hands of terrorists, this man's compassion and joie-de-vivre seemingly knows no bounds, and he's reportedly a riveting and unmissable live performer. His 2 CDs are top faves here at Le Millet ... I'll be there ... and then there's the lovely Lisa Mills ... and seeing Jackie Leven again would be great ... and Albert Nyathi was a GAS last time ... Dammit - do I have to move back to Wales? AAAARGH! Love to one and all. - Andrew

Al from Machynlleth

Groupo Lokito - What an exquisite night! “On a zouké, On a dansé, on a dansé la Salsa! »

Absolutely brilliant gig and fantastic band. It was well worth travelling from Machynlleth.

"Et cerise sur le gateau"... we got to spend more time after the gig with the band: playing piano, and speaking French.

Times making life worth living.

Thank you ever so much I savoured each moment of it.

Bon Anniversaire José! Et aussi merci beaucoup Mr Evans.

Caped Cruiser here, now a week into my new permanent domicile in deepest frost-bound rural Brittany. I was thinking of you all last Friday, & hope Gaz & his crowd of loveable miscreants delivered the goods ... I shall miss the Talbot gigs like mad - haven't found much sign of quality live music here yet, but hoping something will turn up. I loved my involvement with Cambria Arts over the years, altho' I freely admit that I didn't give it the time it deserved in my last year or so in Wales. Hope somebody takes on the task of writing the gig reviews ... there must be somebody who, like me, enjoys creative criticism and who are arrogant enough to want to see their name in print/on screen.

Best wishes to all at CA for a peaceful Christmas and a hassle-free 2008. A bientot! - Andrew

I would like to appeal to members and supporters of Cambria Arts. I am planning to do a parachute jump in July, in order to raise money for the benefit of Cambria Arts, so that Cambria Arts can continue to hold their music and art events in Tregaron.

My target is Ł1,000, and I will only jump if I reach this target. Please help to make this target a reality by downloading the sponsorship form (under news items on this website), or picking a form up from the gallery or Hafan. Thank you very much for your support.

What has happened to the Caped Cruiser's reviews this year? I miss his witticisms and shrewd, (sometimes extremely) subjective observations. Above all, I miss sharing and comparing my experiences with his, or learning what I have missed out. Come back to us - we miss you!

Thank you for two terrific evenings. I lost all my inhibitions dancing the night away to Los Pistoleros and had a wonderful evening of good food and entertainment at the Hafan music evening. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Thanks for all the effort bringing in the bands. We thought Juliet Turner was amazing in 2006, much better with the limited range of instruments than on the still very good live gig CD. Hamilton Loomis was also incredibly entertaining and frighteningly together given he'd grabbed a bass player the week before.

As 2006 draws to a close, it would be great to hear from all you gig-goers as to what your special favourites of the year were. My particular personal favourites were Celloman, Freshlyground, El Equipo, Geoff Muldaur, Eliza Gilkyson. But there were also fantastic performances from Salsa Celtica, The Storys, Fluxus, and not forgetting the magical evening at Hafan with Kreg Viesselman! It is impossible for me to choose. It was a great year for live music. Please share with me your special music moments of 2006.

Message: Hey folks. Just a quick one to say thanks for your warmth and hospitality at the 5th Dec show with Celloman. Had a great time and the responses to my performance were very encouraging. Hope to get back that side in the new year.

I just read you review on the music on Tia McGraff and wanted to say how great it is. She is really a great songwriter and singer. I did want to point out one error though..... you wrote...her choice of covers included the excellent James McMurtrey's 'How Much Fun Can a Cowgirl Have'......If you check you will find that James McMurtrey didn't write that song. That is an original by Tia McGraff, Tommy Parham and Jon Michaels. I think Tia would probably be honoured to be placed in the same status as Mr. McMurtrey ..but give credit were credit is due. Thanks for your attention and I will be checking back to site on a regular basis. I am finding some really great artists on it.

We really enjoyed ourselves the other week at the Talbot - great crowd, good fun all round. and the staff were really nice to us the next day - hope we didnt overstay our welcome with them..
Nice pics in the gig gallery.
We'd like to buy the disc from the photographer - can you put us in touch with him? Thanks very much.
Look forward to a return next year some time.

WOW!!! Is all I can say in reply to the amazing gig I saw last week. The gig was Jaipur Kawa Brass Band!!! My fiance had been raving about this gig ever since he read about it on the leaflet and after reading the synopsis didn't know what to expect at all!!!! The juggling (I aspire to now be that good! Dunno about the big concrete ball though) and the dancing amazing.. like something I had never seen before!!!! I had heard much news about how grand they are from people who had seen them before!!! They exceeded all expectations and more! I very much look forward to seeing them again.

The gigs at the Talbot are amazing and I look forward to seeing more now having moved to Tregaron!!! Cambria Arts you do certainly ROCK!
